Rodeo This Weekend

University of Tennessee-Martin cellular and molecular biology student Summer Weldon, Miss Rodeo U.S.A. 2018 made a visit to the Wolfson Children’s hospital at the Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick yesterday afternoon to visit kids in the pediatric ward. Weldon is in town in conjunction with the 7th Annual Exchange Club of Brunswick Rodeo at the Beach. The rodeo is tonight and tomorrow night at the Exchange Club fairgrounds on the Emory Dawson Parkway in Brunswick. Gates open tonight at 6:00 with rodeo action starting at 7:30. Gates open at 4:00 pm tomorrow. This is an International Professional Rodeo Association sanctioned event that will host a variety of professional circuit riders and performers from around the world and will feature roping, bronc and bull riding, barrel racing & steer wrestling competitions. There will be a car show on Saturday and live music nightly with the Red Shed Band Friday night, starting at 6pm, and Justen Harden and Blacklight Station Saturday, starting at 4pm. There will also be pony rides and activities for the kids. Tickets are $15 each, children 5 and under are admitted free. All proceeds will help fund various community outreach programs of the Exchange Club.
