Football Roundup: Glynn Wins; BHS, FA Stymied

The Glynn Academy defense stood tall Friday night holding Valdosta to just 3 points while Red Terrors’ quarterback Randon Jernigan and the offense put up 27 points in the win. Jernigan rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Glynn will host Heritage-Conyers in the second round this Friday. Northside-Warner Robins completed one pass during Saturday’s Class 6A first-round playoff game against Brunswick High, but that was all they needed. The pass put Northside up 24-21 with two minutes left in the game. Brunswick’s comeback fell short as quarterback Jamarius Stevens was picked off in the end zone with 16 seconds left to seal the win for Northside.The Frederica Academy Knights, also in the hunt for a championship, lost to Valwood when the Valiants took a 14 - 10 lead with 23 seconds left on the clock.And on a final football note, Auburn upset number 1 ranked Georgia 40 to 17 Saturday afternoon possibly torpedoing the Bulldogs’ shot at a National Championship playoff spot.
