West Mims Fire Rages On...

The West Mims Fire has now burned over 96,000 acres in and near the Okefenokee Swamp since lightning started it on April 6, and if predictions hold true, the fire is likely to have burned a quarter of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in slightly less than a month. The fire is 8% contained and 499 personnel are assigned to the fire. Very minimal smoke impacts are expected today however late today smoke may be noticed in Folkston. No road issues are expected.
